  • Take the Artist Studio Tour.
  • The Tapas Restaurant/Bar at the foot of Haller Fountain is a must do for great food and reasonably priced drinks. Try the pomegranite martini for starters!
  • Learn how to make a wooden kayak at Port Hudson marina.
  • Watch master sail makers at work at the Sail Loft.
  • Check out the Wooden Boat Foundation! It is a treasure of information!
  • Walk/ride the Larry Scott Memorial Trail for an easy scenic waterfront stroll!
  • Feed the birds at Kai Tai Lagoon—it is a great walk through a local favorite paradise!
  • PT is full of walking trails...just look for the walking path signs and have fun!
  • Watch the sun go down by the lighthouse at Fort Worden State Park.
  • Stroll the beach from Port Hudson to Fort Worden State Park at low tide!
  • Be a kid again! Explore the bunkers at Fort Worden State Park! Be sure to take a flashlight if you plan to go inside.
  • Walk through the pine trees of Fort Worden State Park on a misty morning to find the magic of the Memorial Vault. It will stay with you forever!
  • See if you can find the Eagle's nest right off a walking path in Ft. Worden.
  • Check out the Marine Science Center on the beach of Fort Worden State Park.
  • Find the path from Fort Worden State Park to North Beach! It is worth the trip!
  • Go to a concert at the McCurdy Pavilion in Fort Worden State Park! Any concert—and there are lots of them during the summer!
  • Visit an original Victorian House—inside and out—at the Rothchild House.
  • Check out the view from the recently restored Bell Tower! A Kodak moment!
  • Walk the steps down to Haller Fountain—it is much easier than the other way around!
  • Explore antique autos and auto memorabilia at Bergstrom's on Washington Street.
  • Rent a bike for the morning at Port Townsend Cyclery and see if you can find the non hilly route from downtown to Fort Worden State Park. Good luck, but it is fun trying!
  • Now if you are a barbeque lover like me....you will love Dos Okies Barbeque. It is small place on Washington Street (towards the boat harbor) where you will find the best tasting barbeque on the Olympic Peninsula. Everything is homemade there and just great! Enjoy!
  • Best place for latté on a rainy day: Tyler Street Coffee House (best pastries too!)
  • Rent a Kayak and explore the nooks and crannies of Port Townsend waterfront. It is whole difference perspective!
  • Go to Siren's for your favorite brew, great pub food, and fantastic waterfront view!
  • Go to the Upstage Restaurant in the evening for some topnotch entertainment. They are getting a big name in the northwest blues and jazz scene.
  • For local color and an outrageous hot dog, head for Dogs A Foot on Water Street—you won't miss it, except for Nov-Feb when he isn't there!
  • Take the historic walking tour through the up town area—ask us to borrow our copy of a walking guide.
  • Walk to Chetzemoka Park, stroll through the Rose Arbor, sit in the gazebo, and enjoy our city park! It is a great place for a picnic!
  • Check out Aldrich's Market on the corner of Lawrence and Tyler in the uptown area. A great place for picnic supplies and last minute beverage purchase!
  • Explore The Wine Seller on Water Street—a great little wine shop with an exceptional selection of great wines and friendly atmosphere. The winter Friday evening wine tasting is great fun (5:00 - 7:00 pm once a month).
  • Do a little wine tasting at Port Townsend's own Four Winds Winery on Hastings Road. Sorenson Winery is also a great place to sip a glass of wine. It is located in an industrial park just outside of town. Yes—we do have our own wineries!
  • Find the best home made chocolate goodies at Lahani's next to The Rose Theater.
  • Looking for a sinful dessert treat? Try a Shake or Malt at the lunch counter at Don's Pharmacy—you have to go during the day though, because they close late afternoon. You might consider splitting one because they are enormous—the way they used to be!
  • For the best greasy spoon fresh seafood in town, go to SeaJ's on the harbor. It is a local place with no atmosphere but great oysters and crab cakes! You can sit outside in good weather.
  • Explore the Uptown business area along Lawrence Street. Great spots for lunch, coffee, dinner, and window shopping.
  • Need your film developed quickly? A-I Photo on Water Street!
  • Don't miss Gallery Walk the first Saturday of every month from 5:00-8:00 pm. Mostly downtown, but check for the out of the way spots as well!
  • Farmers Market every Saturday morning April through October—uptown along Tyler Street. A smaller version also happens on Wednesday from 3 - 7:00 pm.
  • Go Whale Watching and to Friday Harbor for lunch on the P.S. Express—it is an all day adventure and well worth it! Seasonal, so check with the innkeeper for details.
  • News flash! We have two great lunch spots and great baked goodies as well. One is uptown....Sweet Laurette's (the best sticky buns around and a great lunch), and downtown is Tyler Street Coffee House. It has yummy baked things, a fabulous lunch menu, and fantastic coffee. Either of these are just the best!
